Currently employing almost 160 people, the company set up in Luxembourg in 1963.
In 1982, Norton revolutionized the market with the first ever laser-welded Diamond Blade. This method of attaching segments is truly superior to conventional brazing. Indeed, the bond which is created between the segments and the steel is actually stronger than the segment or the steel. This kind of blades allows also dry-cutting: the segments are welded to the steel and cannot separate from it, even if the blade is not water-cooled. The introduction of the laser-welded blades brought more safety and more versatility on the job.
During the last 25 years, thanks to the new technology pioneered by its R&D department , Norton has been producing new types of blades that cut faster and longer, provide lower material costs and are safer. The best example is the state-of-the-art “Duo” blade which has become a standard in the industry introducing an unmatched cutting comfort.
The safety of the end-user has always been a priority for Norton.
As a user of abrasives products, you are well aware that high rotating tool speed is a part of the abrasive process. Therefore, there is a risk to the user that must never be overlooked . Even though you always use your abrasive tool properly, some poor quality products may not stand up to extreme mechanical and thermal stresses that they are subjected to and become a risk.
Since 2000, the Organisation for Safety of Abrasives (oSa) gathers responsible manufacturers of abrasives that agreed to produce and market safe and accident-preventing quality abrasives. Every products of oSa members exceed European safety norms such as EN13236.
Saint-Gobain Abrasives is a proud member of oSA and invites abrasives users to recognize quality products.
It is strongly NOT recommend to use abrasive tools lacking the oSa label nor the EN13236 compliancy.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information or visit the oSa website
